COUNSELLING AND THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES & RELATIONSHIPS

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Buttercross Counselling.

My name is Rachel Raynor and I am a psychotherapist providing both short- and long-term therapy to adult individuals in Tong, near Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. I also offer counselling by telephone or online.

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified psychotherapist I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics.

Making the decision to seek support is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.

My Qualifications

MA Integrative Psychotherapy (SPTI \ University of Birmingham)

Over 17 years of clinical experience

Former NHS Mental Health Clinician

Certificate in Neuro-affirming Practice (Free2BeMe)

Certificate in Working with Couples and Relationships (Link Centre)

Psychodynamic Theory and Practice (BCTS)

My focus is working with autistic and ADHD adults, including those who may be wondering about exploring diagnosis or self-diagnosed. I don't view neurodiversity as something to be 'fixed' but rather exploring your experiences, reducing overwhelm and supporting you to build a life that works for you.

Alongside individual therapy, I also work with couples and relationships (like polycules as well as non-romantic relationships such as family members) to enable you to improve communication, navigate conflict and better understand each others' experiences, especially where neurodivergence is part of the relationship

People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through therapy:

Feelings of stress or anxiety

Burnout

Relationship problems

Grief, loss or bereavement

Problems with addiction

Trauma and post-traumatic stress

Abuse

Depression

PMDD, Perimenopause and Menopause

Late diagnosis

Issues relating to sexuality, sex and identify

Chronic health issues

Problems with work or school life

SPEAK IN CONFIDENCE

Therapy takes place in a safe space, where we can meet with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.

MAKE BETTER, HEALTHIER NEW CHOICES

Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
